For our first-ever membership class, we’ll meet at First Baptist Fellowship Hall and on Zoom from 6:30pm - 7:45pm.
We’re delighted that Andrea will be leading this class on Sunday. She is going to spend a fair bit of time talking about the various elements of membership, what those boundaries and expectations do for us, and why it matters. Understanding how important belonging to groups is vitally important for us so that we can cultivate a shared understanding of how being a member at Spring Church is an incredibly similar thing. There are certain responsibilities a member of our church has: baptism, providing pastoral care for each other, and participating in our mission come to mind. But there’s a much longer list of resources a member is provided with, in order to live out those responsibilities: communion, community worship, community discernment, training in pastoral care, and a constitution come to mind.
Human relationships tend to flourish better when clear boundaries exist AND when those boundaries exist to serve the relationships and not the other way ‘round. We want clear boundaries around membership at Spring Church AND we want those boundaries to help us flourish and live out our mission.
