Why do we call this small group Heading North?

  • If our heart is a compass, then Jesus is North.

  • Magnets are all of the things in life that distract us from Jesus as our North.

  • Shielding our hearts from these magnets through spiritual disciples, prayer, gathering together, and immersive Kingdom experiences all help us follow Jesus in the direction He is walking as we go about our every day lives.

Following Jesus is best done with other people and gathering in this small group together is one way we practice together how to keep our hearts pointed towards Jesus!

What to Expect

  • At Spring Church, we call our discipleship small group “Heading North” as a reminder that we are all on a journey of following Jesus together and keeping Him as our North.

  • Our mission is “uncommon friendship and common discipleship” and we believe everyone can teach us how to follow Jesus - so all ages, genders, and background are a part of this group.

  • This group is interactive, dynamic and HYBRID meaning whether you attend in person at the Franklin Academy in Bellingham or by Zooming in, you will be invited to actively participate in the group.

For our first rendition of the Heading North Discipleship Small Group in 2020, we often told the story of Coleton growing carrots as a reminder that growing in our spiritual practices takes time and practice, but overtime produces much fruit! Here a few prayer and ritual resources this small group created over several months and lots of practice.

For this year’s Heading North Small Group, we will gather every other week to learn about and experience God’s Kingdom here and now! We’ll be using The Kingdom Field Guide as a launching point to help us taste and see the goodness of God’s Kingdom that is right in front of us! Let us know if you’d like us to purchase a copy of the book for you!

  1. This group begins June 6 and goes to October 17th

  2. We will meet Sunday Evenings 6:30pm on Zoom.

    *note that we will not begin meeting in person until July 18

  3. If you live in Bellingham, this group will gather at the Franklin Academy (1509 E Victor Street) beginning July 18. If you’d like to participate virtually, you can do so by clicking on the Zoom link on the website menu at 6:30pm on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.
